The Helen Morgan Story plot

"Her songs. Her sins."

The film follows the career of singer Helen Morgan, who was very popular in the 1920s and 1930s. In addition to her singing career, she dated Larry Maddux, a former criminal, and Russell Wade, a married lawyer. But both relationships broke down, which resulted in Morgan turning to alcohol.
