The Heat of the Day plot

London during the Second World War. The whole city is on alert and the air raid sirens are almost a part of everyday life. A large part of the inhabitants have left the city to seek refuge in the safer countryside. A few civilians remained, including Stella Rodney. When London begins to oppress her, she hesitates to leave the city. Her doubts are reinforced by the story that her lover passes on British secrets to the Germans. The man who is chasing him decides to involve Stella in his game, in order to strengthen his grip on her lover.
