The Heart of Salome plot

During a visit to the French countryside, Monte Carroll falls in love with Helene. He believes her to be a simple peasant girl, but she is actually American. In Paris, he grows to despise Helene for stealing valuable papers from him. Helene, intent on revenge, promises her ruthless employer, Humphrey, that she will marry him if he kills Monte Carroll. She gloats over his plight when he is thrown into the dungeon. Over time, Helene realizes that she loves him after all.
