The Good Bad Boy plot

John Benson is an unsuccessful inventor who spends a lot of time drinking. His son Billy, in turn, spends a lot of time defending his father, often with his fists, and therefore has few friends. One day, one of John's inventions actually works. The rogue lawyer Sidney Marvin and his assistant, Walter Howe, think it can make money, so they plan to steal it. They frame John and have him thrown in jail. Billy must now clear his father's name, get him out of prison and take back the invention from the two crooks.
