Henry VIII is the powerful British monarch who comes into conflict with the Church when he wants to divorce Queen Katherine and marry Anna Boleyn. Cardinal Wolsey, the Lord Chancellor of England, tries to placate Rome and listen more to the wishes of the King, much against the wishes of the judges who accuse him of high treason.
