The Englishman's Boy plot
The miniseries contains two storylines. In one it is 1920 and young screenwriter Harry Vincent is heading to Hollywood. Well-known studio boss Damon Ira Chance hires him and orders him to visit longtime western actor Shorty McAdoo. He is a guarantee of success. The problem, however, is that McAdoo is rather hard to reach and it remains to be seen whether he'll want to play in Chance's tribute to the wild west. Meanwhile, a group of wolf hunters in 1873 also shows a wandering young man. They are looking for some horse thieves and see no harm in the boy known as 'The Englishman's Boy'. Slowly but surely it becomes more and more clear what the link is between this young man and Shorty McAdoo.
