"Life's been a real bitch to Beatrice Hunsdorfer. And vice versa."
The story of Beatrice Hunsdorfer, a middle-aged widow, and her two daughters Ruth and Matilda. Beatrice is slightly unstable and finds it difficult to cope with social life. Her daughter Ruth, epileptic, is going through the teenage phase and is having a life just as hard as her mother. Only sister Matilda tries to remain optimistic and she looks for support in her schoolwork and her animals.
