The Eddie Cantor Story plot
"Big and Bright as Those Banjo Eyes!"
The story follows the life of Eddie Cantor, star of the Broadway show "The Ziegfeld Follies". New York, 1904: Eddie's singing skills do not go unnoticed during a summer camp and he is picked up by the producer Lesser. Eddie travels for several years with a show called "Gus Edwards Kid Kabaret". When Eddie gets too old, he travels home again and is offered a job at a Rocky Kramer nightclub. Pianist Jimmy Durante then lands him on a show in Los Angeles. Eddie learns from a jealous competitor that Florenz Ziegfeld is interested in Eddie. Arriving in New York it turns out that Ziegfeld has never heard of him, but he is allowed to audition anyway.
