Hallie Hobart is a manicurist in a hotel, who has since built up a small fortune through business with salesmen of agricultural machinery. That's how she meets David Stone, the son of the wealthy grain merchant Ezra. She seduces him, but when David's brother Mark and his father find out she's not really in love with David, they offer her money to forgo marriage.
