The Crimson Cross plot

Buddy Billings, the detective dean's adopted son, uses hypnosis to extract confessions. Richard Gromley, a social worker who has redeemed many inmates through love and kindness, warns Buddy against using hypnosis. Buddy doesn't listen and uses his power to get Mrs. Otto Fischer, an anarchist, to confess. Mr. Fischer, enraged at his wife's treatment, reveals that Buddy has just convicted his own mother and father and proves it by the crimson cross on Buddy's arm.
