The Country Doctor plot

In Moosetown, located in the forests north of Montreal, Canada, John Luke has been the only doctor in town for thirty-five years. John gives birth to Asa Wyatt and his wife's baby just as winter sets in and the last boat leaves until the following spring. When a diphtheria epidemic threatens the city's children, John calls his brother Paul, who is a doctor in Montreal, for more serum. However, Sir Basil Crawford, the head of the trading company that employs most of Moosetown's men, does not immediately have a plane available to get the serum.
