The Cherokee Word for Water plot

"The story of Wilma Mankiller, the first modern female Chief of the Cherokee Nation."

Bell, Oklahoma, early '80s. In the houses of a small rural town, there is still a lack of tap water: no taps, showers or toilets. Several houses are not even much more than shacks. Full-blooded Cherokee and former chief of the Cherokee Nation, Wilma Mankiller, and her husband Charlie Soap join forces to build a 16-mile water main, assisted entirely by volunteers from the 400-population Bell area of Bell.
