The young man Barnabas Barty inherits some money and then travels to London. There he falls head over heels in love with the British young lady Cleone Meredith. But there's a privateer on the shore: Sir Mortimer Carnaby, who's also had a crush on the beauty himself. Sir Mortimer does everything he can to stop Barnabas's love plans.
