That French Lady plot

While studying architecture in Paris, John Hemingway falls in love with Inez de Pierrefond, a writer who believes in marriage without the laws of the state or church. He brings her to his home in Iowa, where she is despised by the townspeople until she threatens to expose their own hypocrisy.
