Tap plot
"Sometimes, no matter what, you can't escape the rhythm."
Tap shows the personal highs and lows of Max Washington (Gregory Hines). A dancer, torn by two pasts; the legacy of his tap dancer father, and his own criminal past. Brilliant but disillusioned, he would rather make a lot of money quickly than laboriously to the top. Far away from the tap world, he ends up in petty crime and prison cells. Rocked by fond memories he had unleashed, Max is impressed by tap dancing legend Lil'Mo (Sammy Davis Jr.) and longs to continue his tapping past. Together with Lil'Mo, he overcomes his insecurity and they spark a tap revolution that has the world dancing.
