Supernova plot
Sam has been with his partner Tusker for 20 years. They travel through England with their caravan. They visit friends, relatives and various locations. The couple wants to enjoy each other's company, because Tusker was diagnosed with dementia two years ago. During the trip, their visions of the future do not match and secrets are revealed.

Gripping drama, beautifully played by Colin Firth and Stanley Tucci. Tucci in particular is very good, as a once flamboyant writer who sees his life force slowly seep away due to the advance of dementia. The film has a somewhat non-committal beginning that is close to boring, but when the emotions are released, the film grabs you and doesn't let go. Nicely kept small and convincing throughout, with many striking moments. The beautiful shots of the continuously passing English landscape also contribute significantly to the experience.

The final scene with Colin Firth delivering the beautiful "Salut d'Amour" may be emotional, but the highlight of this top film is when Sam explains to Tusker what he wants to do for him and adds "You need me" to which Tusker agrees and then a long silence follows. Tusker later reiterates "I want to be remembered as I used to be. Not as I will be for the last years of my life."
Gripping film, dramatic in the last part, not without humor (the signature scene) before that.
Superb performances by Stanley Tucci and Colin Firth.
