11-year-old Sota lives with his grandfather and dog Chibi in a snowy village. They don't even have the money to send Sota to school, but Sota remains positive and dreams of becoming a painter one day. Despite the big differences, he is friends with Sayo, daughter of the wealthy, although her father doesn't like it. When Sota wants to give Sayo a homemade painting and walks his dog to her house, something special happens...
