Stubby Pringle (Beau Bridges) is a lonely cowboy in 1910 Montana. He is unknowingly about to experience a very strange Christmas. Stubby meets Georgia Henderson (Julie Harris), who is in trouble with her ailing husband and her young children. They spend some very special days together.
