Step plot

A mother hands her son into the hands of the boy's uncle to take him to a town hundreds of miles away, where he will go to school. However, the uncle soon passes the boy on to a group of adventurers, who will take him across the steppe to the city. During the journey, the boy listens to the stories of the members of the diverse group and changes from a boy into a young man.
