Stateside plot
"Boy in a flack jacket meets girl in a straight jacket."
Stateside is a film about the love between a rich kid who joins the Marine Corps to avoid jail time and a schizophrenic actress who sees her career fall to pieces. In this true story, Mark Deloach (Jonathan Tucker) joins the Marines and, just before he leaves, meets Dori Lawrence (Rachel Leigh Cook), who has fled Hollywood to do something about her life and her illness. In the military, drill sergeant Skeer (Val Kilmer) tries to make a man out of the rebellious teenager. The two lovers continue to believe in each other, despite all the obstacles and all the opposition from the authorities.
