Mara Graf is a renowned geologist and expert on tsunamis. Commissioned by the government, she has to install seismological equipment on the bottom of Lake Urner. During one of the diving trips, Mara's life mate and diving partner Gian Wyss dies under mysterious circumstances. Instead of getting support from the government, Mara is targeted as a possible murderer. Cornered, she goes in search of the truth herself.
