Poland in the early 9th century. The evil king Popiel sits on his wooden throne and makes the heads of all those who do not like him. And there's been quite a few lately, when his scheming wife, an ex-slave, goes to great lengths to muzzle anyone who thinks of questioning her heirs to the throne and slave-bastards in the future. The survivors of these purges gather somewhere in the country and form a powerful resistance movement under the leadership of the former royal commander.
