Lila is an artist and teacher and has built a paradise in the Catskill Mountains with her husband Edgar. During the summer, when their daughters leave home and her best friend Gigi begins a battle with cancer, Lila learns that her husband is having an affair with a woman and is expecting a child. Desolate, in her quest to rediscover herself, she befriends the younger Jonah.
