Son of the Navy plot

Young sailor Mike Malonea hitchhike to his base in San Pedro. Along the way, Mike gets to know young Tommy and his dog. Tommy is looking for his parents. Mike, unwilling to know anything about a marriage, takes Tommy along and pretends to travel with his son because it makes it easier to get a ride. Not long after, Mike meets attractive brunette Steve Moore, which gives Tommy an idea.
