Silk plot
"Come Back, or I Shall Die..."
In the 19th century, French silk smuggler Herve Joncour (Pitt) travels to Japan to collect his contraband. There he meets a beautiful Japanese woman with one of his merchants. Despite the fact that they don't speak the same language, he falls madly in love with her. Meanwhile, his real wife Helene (Knightley) in France begins to suspect his secret affair.
