Shônen H plot
Japan, just before World War II. Hajime is bullied at school for wearing a sweater with a big letter "H" on it that his mother Toshiko knitted for him. He is curious by nature and constantly asks his father Morio about the changing society and the constantly more stifling measures of the government. His parents try to stay true to their humanist beliefs while Hajime begins his mandatory military training.
