"Satyajit Ray's First Hindi feature Film"

In 1856 Wazed Ali Shah is ruler of one of the last independent kingdoms in India. The British want to annex the country and send General Outram there. He finds out that the ruler is completely uninterested in politics, as are some nobles who focus entirely on playing chess between themselves.
