Secret of Giving plot

In Calico, a small Oregon town during the Great Depression, a single mother fights a dogged battle to raise her ailing son and keep her ranch afloat. She has numerous debts to the doctor for the medicines her son needs, to the local hotel and a heavy loan from the bank. The banker hires men to drive her cattle away. He hopes she won't be able to pay off her loan and that he can get her hands on her ranch.
