Schlösser und Katen plot

When the British withdraw in 1945 and the Red Army moves into their village, the Earl and his family flee hastily. His staff remains behind, including the earl's coachman, crooked Anton, and his wife Marthe and daughter Annegret. Anton has given the count a document that guarantees him 5000 Marks if Annegret - conceived by the count by his wife Marthe - marries. Annegret, who knows nothing about it, becomes the victim of shameless intrigue. She flees the village and does not return until years later - in possession of a diploma and a son. Inspector Bröker, who wanted to sell his son to Annegret in vain, wants revenge.
