Scars of Jealousy plot

Jeff Newland is a recalcitrant young man who is rejected by his father, the aristocratic colonel of the Confederate Newland. In his place, Colonel Coddy adopts Jakes of the Cajun tribe and raises him further. Coddy saves the life of Helen Meanix, a close friend of the Newland family, whose horse had run amok at Jeff's hand. When Coddy learns of Jeff's wrongdoing, he kidnaps him and takes him to the mountains. Coddy wants to re-educate Jeff and they quickly become friends. Coddy is falsely accused of murdering an officer and is arrested. Jeff and his father, who have since reconciled, set out to free Coddy from prison with the help of the Cajun tribesmen.
