"His life was over... so they thought."
Dannion has been a difficult man all his life, who has developed absolutely no social skills. One day he is struck by a lightning bolt. Miraculously, he survives the blow, but the lightning strike has completely changed his life. During his near-death experience, he had unforgettable visions of a dark tunnel, a crystal city and a church where angels showed him his future. Because of this miraculous experience, he feels called to tell his story to the world. He travels town and country to share his experiences with the people and befriends Dr. Raymond Moody, who has a deep interest in near-death experiences. Because of all that travel, Dannion becomes increasingly estranged from his wife Casey.
