The film portrays the spiritual connection between man and animal in an almost paradisiacal manner. It is pure, without melodrama, although the scenes with the bear cub are truly heartbreaking. The music and the beautiful nature shots of the Russian taiga also make subtitles for the human interactions almost superfluous. Kunak, the lynx, steals the show once again, although the supporting roles of the goat (Magda) and the dog (Altai) are also noteworthy in this sequel.
The ending is unfortunately a bit slow. Therefore, half a star less than the first film.
