Reefa plot
Israel "Reefa" Hernandez Jr, an 18-year-old Colombian immigrant and talented artist, spends his last summer in Miami with friends, family and his new girl Frankie before moving to New York City on an art scholarship. As Israel and his friends skateboard through the city streets and spray the walls of Miami's graffiti mecca Wynwood, the fears are twofold: Israel and his family nervously await their green card, while he desperately searches for recognition for his art. On August 6, 2013, as Israel sprays a final wall that would command immediate respect from its peers, a fatal encounter with a police officer leaves his family and friends devastated, enraging the Miami community and the country shuddering at another case of police brutality.
