Train driver Toru Takishima works every day without complaint. At the age of 59, he only has one more month to work until his early retirement. His wife Sawako has always supported him as a housewife and the two prepare for Toru's retirement. Then Sawako suddenly announces that she wants to work as a nurse again. Toru doesn't understand Sawako's desire to go back to work and the two get into an argument that Sawako leaves the house.
