Princess of the Dark plot

Crip Halloran is the son of the village alcoholic. He is in love with Fay Herron. Fay is a blind young woman who lives purely in her fantasy world, where she is the princess and Crip is her prince. The two spend a lot of time in an old mine and mainly fantasize there. One day, Fay undergoes surgery on her eyes, allowing her to see again. Fay, of course, wants Crip to be the first person she sees. But when she finally sees his true identity, it leaves her heartbroken.
