The people are afraid of the usurer Chazaj and think that he is a bringer of bad luck. One day he visits painter Simon Jordán and asks him to paint a portrait of him. Simon agrees, but during the process he kills himself. However, the portrait is lifelike and Chazaj is very satisfied with the result. After his death, the portrait gets different owners, all of whom have little prosperity in their lives.
