Reasonable drama, but not flawless. I think this film should score mainly on the shocking part of the true story. Unfortunately that didn't happen to me. Especially since I live in Spain where there are now hundreds of investigations against the church because it stole newborn babies from new mothers until the 1980s by showing them a frozen baby's corpse after birth and telling them that their child after the birth died. By comparison, these Irish nuns are real sweethearts, which made this film a little less impressive for me. But that is of course a personal thing.

Because it didn't catch me, I was able to pay attention to the rest of the aspects as a film, and I have to say that this film feels very Hollywood, the film looks too slick and too made for me. I always had the impression that the true story being told was of secondary importance, and that more attention was paid to the decoration around it, which leads to quite a few clichés (journalist as researcher, almost forced to break off the investigation (to to fly back) and not after that, the boss of the journalist who makes it all difficult for them, ed). Without that true story, there's honestly not much left. So in my opinion could have been better. 3 skinny stars.

I have become curious about the often mentioned The Magdalene Sisters (2002).
