Pestalozzis Berg plot
Humanist and educator Pestalozzi (Gian Maria Volonte) has failed in his attempt to find a home for a group of orphans. He is considered to be a headstrong visionary and do-gooder and the Swiss authorities do not support him either. His wife also wants to divorce him. As a result, he decides to stay in a closed Swiss mountain village in the sanatorium Gurnigelbad. The people he meets here are rough and rude. Only Mädi (Heidi Züger), a simple folk girl, gives him renewed hope.
