Perl oder Pica plot

Esch, Luxembourg, 1962. Norbi is the twelve-year-old son of a devout shopkeeper. The war has been over for years, but its effects are still felt in society as Norbi's father keeps bitterly reminding him who the traitors were during the Nazi occupation. Norbi's father is a strict ruler over his children; Norbi is beaten for every tidbit and his sister is secretly followed by his father to make sure she is chaste. Norbi struggles to survive, but also has to survive school bullying and puberty.
