Patrick's Day plot
Patrick, 26, is a sympathetic and open-hearted man who is still a virgin and suffers from schizophrenia. Using pills and protecting his mother, Patrick is not a threat to himself or others. Until he falls in love. Maura, Patrick's obsessive mother, and her need to control her son blinds her to see that sometimes misleading love can be more harmful than hate. Alcoholic flight attendant Karen books a room at a hotel to end her life, unaware that the intimacy she shares with Patrick will reintroduce her to life. Dysfunctional cop and loner Freeman wants to be a stand-up comedian, but when Maura loses her son, Freeman will use his position to help her find him - at a price.
