The attractive and outgoing American Kitty is married to the Frenchman Andre de Mornay. When the Nazis invade Paris, Kitty tries to flee to the countryside with her older English friend Emmeline Quayle. However, they are stopped by the Germans and forced to return. Along the way, Kitty and Emmeline help a British pilot, Lieutenant William Gray, who was shot down behind enemy lines. They manage to smuggle Gray out of occupied France. Much to their liking, Kitty and Emmeline try to smuggle more Allied pilots out of the country, Kitty using all her charms to distract the Germans. One day, however, Emmeline is arrested by the Nazis and tortured by the Gestapo. Can the resistance in Paris still save her?
