P.K. and the Kid plot

"She was a runaway...until the Kid came along."

PK's stepfather abuses her and her mother does nothing about it. This causes PK to run away from home. She hides in Kid Kane's truck. He's on his way to the World Arm Pressing Championship. When he hears her story, he wants to protect her. But her stepfather is already looking for her...
