Ordinary Heroes plot

Two friends Tony and Ken are on night patrol in Vietnam when they are shot at. Ken is badly injured and Tony rushes to his aid. Then a rocket explodes... A few years earlier Tony and his girlfriend Maria had moved in together. He wants to propose to her the night before he leaves for Vietnam, but he doesn't get a chance to do so. At the bus he pushes the ring into her hands. At the hospital it turns out that Tony has been blinded by the explosion and Ken is seriously injured. The friendship is put to the test in the hospital. Tony doesn't want Maria to come over, but she does so secretly. At the sight of Tony, she runs out of the hospital shocked and scared. Tony reluctantly returns to his hometown.
