"In a neighborhood dedicated to the production and sale of oil, appears the mutilated body of a woman ..."

Osaka, 18th century. Okichi is the wife of a wealthy oil trader. Yohei is a young man who is the son of Okichi's husband's former business partner. As a child, Okichi often looked after the boy, but when his father died, he moved. Years later, he returns as a man and Okichi instantly falls madly in love with him. There is, however, a catch. A beautiful daughter of a rival oil trader is also in love with Yohei. Okichi plans to get her out of the way. The problems escalate when Okichi's husband finds out.
