Once upon a Time in Calcutta plot
After the loss of her daughter, Ela not only loses her identity as a mother, but also the only reason to be with her husband. When the bank refuses her a loan for a house, her boss, the inventor of a massive Ponzi scheme, makes her an offer that she has a hard time accepting. Ela reconnects with her stepbrother to get her half of an old family theater back, but he refuses and blames Ela for his own dark fate. In between all this, Ela's childhood sweetheart resurfaces, giving her the warmth and hope for a new beginning. Just as Ela begins to live the life she's dreamed of, she realizes she's not the only one in town that is starving.
