Sophie (Julia Jäger) lives with her mother and her brother Georg (Sylverster Groth) in a small town. When the station where Sophie works is closed, the station cafe, where her only friend worked as a waitress, also disappears. This friend proposes to go to the big city together to find work. However, Sophie is secretly in love with the illegal Russian Sergej (Michael Schweighöfer) living in Germany and decides to introduce him to her family in the hopes that he can come and live with them. However, her mother and brother react to Sergei in their own way.
