Biographical film about the rise of Neal Cassady (Tate Donovan), one of the central figures of the Beat Generation. Cassady became immortal as Dean Moriarty, the main character in Jack Kerouac's On the Road. Later in life, Cassady tries to slow down and write a book himself, but he is opposed by many fans who only want to see him as Moriarty.
