Native Son plot
In 1940s Chicago, African Bigger Thomas (Love) takes a job as a private driver for the wealthy Dalton family. One day he has to take daughter Mary Dalton (McGovern) to college and on the way they take her friend Jan (Dillon) with them. The two decide to skip school and party and drink instead of going to school. On the way back, Mary loses consciousness and Bigger has to get her to her bedroom undetected. As Mary's blind mother enters, Bigger holds a pillow over Mary's head so that she is quiet. Unknowingly, he just killed her and now, in a panic attack, he tries to dump the body, fearing he won't get a fair trial. Afterwards, Jan is wanted by the police for the murder of Mary and Bigger plays a major role in the accusations.
