Naanum Oru Penn plot

The ruler of Selvapuram cannot cope with the death of his wife and is still in mourning. Sons Bhaskar, an acclaimed painter, and Balu, a student, live with him. Sabapathi is the ruler's brother-in-law, who lives in the same house with his wife and son. He is a parasite and devises a plan to take the ruler's wealth. To fill the void in the house, the ruler asks his brother-in-law to find a bride for Bhaskar. Kalyani, an uneducated dark-skinned woman, is used by Sabapathi for his plan. The poor girl, on the other hand, manages to convince her new superficial family that appearances can be deceiving. She takes charge of the household and works hard to impress.
