After her husband is killed in the war, a deaf-mute widow returns to her mother. Here she meets another deaf-mute and the two fall in love. He promises her that they can work together and overcome all obstacles on the way to a happy and successful life. Unfortunately, things are not as planned. Their first child dies, and her new husband's evil brother throws a spanner in the works...
